The National Information Technology Board
In Pakistan, the public departments and the Ministries needs dedicated consultancy and technical guidance to productively fulfil their primary purposes. It is not in the interest of the government to have unproductive public departments. On 11th August 2014, Pakistan Computer Bureau (PCB) and Electronic Government Directorate (EGD) were merged to form The National Information Technology Board (NITB) commissioned by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT). The NITB aims to address the operational challenges of all government departments and Ministries. NITB specializes in key automation, design, development, and implementation of robust IT technologies to promote the e-governance culture in all public departments and holistically develop plans, technologies, and infrastructures to boost the performance of the public sector.OUR MISSION
There is a bigger mission behind NITB’s establishment. Our journey focuses on uplifting the quality, service delivery, data security, and accessibility of data and information to our clients. We aim to offer the vital resources and consultancy services to guide all the government departments and Ministries for promoting speedy operations. Our primary mission is to promote the wellbeing of Pakistani citizens around the globe by converting every Ministry into a digitally-empowered public organization. NITB’s mission is to provide access to the government departments with information on one click to become more effective in using digital technologies with adequate support.

Meet NITB’s CEO: Shabahat Ali Shah
Shabahat Ali Shah is serving as the Chief Executive Officer of National IT Board since 2019. He is also the Chairman of Board of IGNITE and among the Board of Directors of Universal Service Fund (USF), Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) and National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC). As CEO of NITB, Shabahat has taken several digital initiatives with a major focus on e-governance. He has successfully devised an effective technology plan for handling corona virus spread in the country. He has been instrumental in planning, development and quick deployment of COVID-19 projects under National Command and Control Center (NCOC). An MIT graduate, Shabahat, has 20+ years of experience in Silicon Valley. He is among one of a very few executives around the world who have experienced working across all three telecom segments: wireline, wireless and satellites. During the professional career spreading over more than two decades, he has excelled in cutting-edge technologies (PaaS/SaaS/IaaS, business process re-engineering, virtualization, AI/ML & data integration technologies) across a wide variety of industry segments, including but not limited to telecommunications & IT industry. Previously, Shabahat has also worked in Oracle Communications, Global Business Unit, Santa Clara as Director of Global Strategic Business. He is also founder/co-founder of three of his Silicon Valley-based startups: Cronus Digital LLC, Helioswire IoT and SPIRE Global Inc.
